GENERAL NOTARY QUESTIONS
- What do I need to bring to a notary appointment?
A valid, government-issued photo ID is required. The document should be fully completed except for the signature — signing must happen in front of the notary. - What types of ID are acceptable in Oregon?
Acceptable IDs include state-issued driver licenses or ID cards, U.S. passports, military IDs, tribal ID cards, foreign passports stamped by U.S. Customs, and green cards. Social Security cards, work badges, and expired IDs are not valid on their own. - Can you help fill out my document or tell me which form I need?
No. We can explain notarial acts, but we do not provide legal advice or assist in document preparation. Clients are responsible for bringing completed, ready-to-notarize documents.
APPOINTMENT LOGISTICS
- Do I need an appointment?
Yes. Appointments are required to ensure availability. Same-day requests are often available, but not guaranteed. - Do clients come to you or do you come to them?
We are a mobile notary service — we travel to your location. We serve Tillamook County and surrounding areas. - What happens if the signer is late or doesn’t show up?
A 15-minute grace period is offered. After that, we may need to reschedule. If a trip has already been made, the travel fee still applies. - Can I cancel or reschedule my appointment?
Yes, with at least 2 hours’ notice. If we are already en route or arrive before the appointment is canceled, the travel fee is still due.
FEES & PAYMENT
- What are your service fees?
General notarizations are $10 per signature. Travel fees start at $20 for the first 15 miles from Hemlock, Oregon, plus $2 per mile after 15 miles (one-way).
For a complete list of services and pricing, please visit our Services & Pricing page. - Is the travel fee always charged?
Yes. If travel occurs, the fee is due — even if the notarization cannot be completed due to ID issues, incomplete documents, or no-shows. - What forms of payment are accepted?
We accept cash, major credit/debit cards, Venmo, Cash App, and invoice billing for approved business clients. Payment is due at the time of service unless otherwise arranged.
SPECIFIC SITUATIONS
- What if the signer is unable to sign?
If the signer can make a mark (such as an “X”), we can complete the notarization with two disinterested witnesses. If the signer cannot make a mark at all, Oregon law allows a proxy to sign on their behalf under strict conditions. - Can you notarize for someone who doesn’t speak English?
Only if the notary and signer share a common language. We are unable to proceed if communication requires an interpreter. - Can you notarize a document with blank spaces?
No. All fields must be completed before notarization can occur. We cannot notarize incomplete documents. - What’s the difference between a jurat and an acknowledgment?
An acknowledgment confirms the signer willingly signed the document (even if beforehand). A jurat requires the signer to swear or affirm the truth of the document and sign in the notary’s presence.
REMOTE & SPECIALTY SERVICES
- Do you offer remote online notarization (RON)?
Yes. We offer RON services through a secure platform. The signer must be physically located in Oregon at the time of the notarization, and ID verification is required. - Can you help with apostilles?
Yes. We offer apostille facilitation for Oregon and out-of-state documents. We assist with preparation, submission, and return of your apostille — but we do not issue apostilles directly. That authority rests with the Oregon Secretary of State.
